If the colored band be passed through a second prismplaced in reversed position, the colored baud willbe recomposed into a l>eam of white light. From thisdecomposition and recomposition we infer that whitelight is a mixture of all the colors of the spectrum. That this is the case is confirmed by use of a NewtonsDisk, which is simply a circle of cardboard upon whichare painted the colors of the spectrum. When the diskis caused to rotate rapidly, the separate colors disappear,and the .sensation of white light only is perceived.
