This plant was first namedL. monadelphum by Bieberstein in his account of the CaucasianFlora, and I am inclined to adhere to Biebersteins name inpreference to that of L. Szovitzianura. The soil in which it is generally grown here is sandy loam, manured only during the operation of re-planting. Althouha large collection of Lilies is cultivated here, none requires lessattention than the one under notice, which, when seen in bloomin large numbers, is really a gorgeous sight.
