In 1S75 ^^ ■^^ called to the Univer-sity of Michigan and held the following positions insuccession : Acting Professor of (k-neral Chemistryand Physics, 1S75-1S76; Professor of and Physics, 1S76-1S77; of GeneralChemistry, 1S77-1S88; Non-resident Lecturer onthe Metallurgy of Steel, 1889-1892. From 1888 to1892 he was metallurgist with a steel firm at Pitts- Plerrick), Martica Irene, Annie Williams (), and Samuel Pierpont, an undergraduate inthe JOHN I,ANr;i FA burg. Since 1S92 he has been Irofessor of Elec-trical Engineering at the Case School of AppliedScience. He has been a Fellow of the American Asso-ciation for the Advancement of Science, and of theSociety of Mining Engineers ; and is a correspondingmember of the British Association for the Advance-ment of Science, and an honorary member of theNew York Academy of Sciences and of the Engi-neers Society of Western Pennsylvania. He is theauthor of a number of scientific and engineeringpapers. The University of Michigan conferred onhim in 1877 the honorary degree of Doctor of Medi-cine, and in 1892 that of Doctor of Philosophy. Hewas married in 1S71 to Martica I. Garret, of ]jOston,and they have four children; Mary Williams (Mrs. WILLIAM LeBARON JENNEY was born at Fairhaven, Massachusetts, September 25,1832, son of \Vilham Proctor and Eliza LeUaron(Gribbs) Jenncy.
