Behind the figuresare represented the Ionic columns of the portico, with itsentablature; above this is a kind of gallery, decorated withfigures and vases, and garlands are also hung in festoonsbetween the columns. It is to be remarked that themasks are all coloured in imitation of life, and with differentcomplexions and hair, according to the age and character tobe represented. The lips in all are of a bright red.
