Hands Across The Sand is an international demonstration against offshore oil drilling and dependence on fossil fuels that started in Florida on June 26th of 2009. According to Hands Across The Sand organizers demonstrations took place in all 50 states and more than 20 countries in 2010. The Raging Grannies were founded in Victoria, British Columbia in 1987 by a group of peace activists who wanted to increase their effectiveness and impact and now has chapters worldwide.
