The oldest graveyard in the town is found onMechanics Street, Westfield, for there the earliest settlersburied their dead, and there may be seen many old headstonesdating as far back as the seventeenth century, the oldest nowdiscernible being of date 1683. There are doubtless in thatground graves of earlier date, but they bear no headstones tomark their age, or to say who sleeps below.
