CEREBRAL LOBE

The frontal lobe. The frontal lobe of the brain is constituted, at the front of the prefrontal cortex (in light orange), followed by the pre-motor cortex (in beige) and the primary motor cortex (in yellow). Broca's area (in bright orange) is located at the basis of the pre-motor cortex. The prefrontal cortex, located in the most anterior part of the frontal lobe, is the cerebral region that manages the executive functions, also called upper cognitive functions (personnality, reasoning and planification of complex movements). The pre-motor cortex is an association area enabling to memorize complex movements and to contract specific muscles. The primary motor cortex, responsible for the voluntarily movements, is located in the frontal lobe, at the level of the precentral gyrus, at the front of the Rolando's fissure. The Broca's area, located at the level of Brodmann's area 44 and 45, is the center of the articulated language (production of language). It constitutes, with the Wernicke's area (comprehension of heard language), one of the main cerebral areas of language.
