Genome research. Computer colour display of assorted gene colonies, part of the \sight\" system of a \"Colony Picker\" robot used to selectively clone specific genes. The robot is able to pick colonies on the basis of their shape, size & colour, prior to their being cloned through repeated cycles of innoculation into wells of growth media. Up to 1000 colonies per hour may be handled in this way. This level of automation is needed in the hugely tedious task of sorting and deciphering the DNA of each human chromosome.
