Thefloors that divide these storeys are of the originalmassive oak timbers. A string-course of unusualsection for this period, and a parapet with angle-ornaments and plain coping, suggest a later the base of the tower is a chamfered plinth,projecting 4Jin., and carried round the stair-turret.
