PSORIASIS
A photographic image of psoriasis on the arm. Psoriasis is a common inflammatory skin disease characterized by rounded patches with thick, dry, silvery scales. The lesions have a predilection for nails, scalp, genitalia, and the lumbosacral region. Accelerated epidermopoiesis is considered to be the fundamental pathologic feature in psoriasis. It is caused by the body making too many skin cells. A swelling of small joints may go along with the skin disease. Treatment includes hormone creams, ultraviolet light, tar soap baths, creams and shampoos.
