He married, inGermany, Bertha Helbig, who was born in Zwickau,Saxony, Germany, about 1867, and is still living. Paul Oscar Werner, son of Oscar and Bertha (Hel-big) Werner, was born also in Zwickau, Germany, thebirthplace of both his parents. May 14, 1887. He at-tended the public schools of his native land for abouteight years, or until he was fourteen years of age. In1901 he entered the Electrical Technical High School,from which he was graduated in 1903. He was employedat the Berlin Electrical Works on switch work, light. Resigning to go to the Westinghouse ElectricCompany in East Pittsburgh, Mr. Werner remained withthat concern for two or three years, thereafter beingconnected with the Jones & Laughlin Steel Company,where he was engaged on repair work on electrical ma-chines and lay-out tables. At the end of one year heresigned from the employ of this concern to enter therestaurant business, and on May I, 1915, started thepresent place on Bingham street.
