The Times Square Hard Rock Cafe, West 43rd Street 7th Avenue, Broadway Theatre District, occupies the former Paramount Theatre Building, which opened in 1926 and closed in 1964. In the 1970s tourists avoided Times Square, which had become a seedy, crime-ridden and drug-infested area. In the 1990s the opening of a Disney Store attracted more family-friendly businesses and the area is a lot safer today than in the early 1990s.
