THIS department, although generally known as that of Ethnology, includesthe several groups of ethnology, archaeology, anthropological laboratory,history and natural history of which the general exhibits are in the Anthropolog-ical Building; also the Latin American exhibit—the special exhibit of the relicsof the time of Columbus arranged in the Convent of La Rabida; the reproductionsof the ancient ruins of Yucatan on the grounds immediately north of theAnthropological Building; and the ethnographical exhibition of native peopleof America, who are living in their native habitations on the stretch of landalong the eastern side of the south pond between the Anthropological Buildingand the Indian school-house. Just north of the Indian school-house is the-Con-vent of La Rabida, and near it is the log house of pioneer times, which belongsto the historical section of the department.
