Cairn in the town of Paisley in Renfrewshire marking where Princess Marjory Bruce aged 19 and heavily pregnant fell from her startled horse and later died. Princess Marjory Bruce or Marjorie de Brus born 1296 and died 2 March 1316, was the eldest daughter of Robert the Bruce, King of Scots. Her mother was Isabella of Mar, Roberts first wife who died delivering her in childbirth aged 19. Princess Marjory was married to Walter, High Steward of Scotland. Princess Marjory fell off her horse whilst heavily pregnant. She was taken to Paisley Abbey where she gave birth to her son Robert and it is reported she died several hours later. Robert became King Robert the II, his birth giving rise rise to the House of Stewart and all their successors on the throne of Scotland, England and the United Kingdom
