Robertand Catharine Hanna settled in the Battle Field of the Brandywineand there their oldest son, Thomas, was born, May 2nd, 1777. In1779 they removed to the southern part of Virginia where RobertHanna, in partnership with John Lynch, laid out the city of Lynch-burg on lands o»-ned by them. The city took the name of Lynchfrom the Senior Proprietor, although Robert Hanna had an almostequal ownership. At Lynchburg eight children were born to Robert —124—. HON. MARCUS A. HANNA. and Catharine Hanna, between the years 1779 and 1797, and in 1801they removed from Campbell County, Va., and settled in the easternpart of Columbiana County,[ at that time Jefferson County] in thepresent state of Ohio. Here the tenth child, Joshua, was born. Robert Hanna died July 17th, 1837 at the home of his daughterCatharine Hole, near Augusta, Ohio, and was buried at AugustaFriends Meeting House.
