Grey sky view, towards 'Crier' and 'Victory Column' statues, cars and parked tourist coaches, Strasse de 17 Juni, Berlin

The Victory Coloumn, in the background of the view, was inaugurated September 1878, to commemorate the Prussian victory in the 2nd Danish-Prussian War (February-October 1864) and also the victories in the Austro-Prussian War of 1866 and the Franco-Prussian War (1870-71). The 'Crier' (Der Rufer) in the mid-distance is a bronze sculpture crated by artist, Gerhard Marcks in 1966. It bears an inscription 'I wandered the world crying peace, peace, peace.'
