Scene from "Uncle Tom's Cabin"

An engraved illustration by Geroge Cruikshank of a scene from the novel "Uncle Tom's Cabin" by American abolitionist and author, Harriet Beecher Stowe (1811-1896), in which an enslaved woman is separated from her child. "The old men of the company, partly by persuasion and partly by force, loosed the poor creature's last desparing hold, and, as they led her off to her new master's wagon, strove to comfort her."
