LAND BULB GROWING, FALL, 19 lO The Best Dingee Roses for Fall Planting BOTH FOR INDOOR AND OUTDOOR CULTURE Last autumn, for the first time, we advertised a new standard of Roses under the announce- ment, "A New Way," a part of which we quote: " We have especially prepared a type of plant not hitherto offeredâlarger and higher grade than ordinarily, a plant grown in pots 3 and 3 V£ inches in diameterâa plant that is strongh rooted, in perfect healthâin short, the best Rose that can be grownâa typical Dingee Rose-^- well-bred and high ; The astonishing results produced by these plants was a wonderful satisfaction to all who planted them, and it has spurred us on to even a greater advance in the propagation of Roses for fall planting either indoors or outdoors. While this new class of plants is consider- ably higher in price than the ordinary mailing-size plant, Rose-growers were accustomed tc buy, they are so infinitely superior as effectually to dispose of any comparison either in quality or price. They are the cheapest, not in price, but compared by resultsâand results, after all, are what we are willing gladly to pay for. A structure built on a cheap foundation is short-livedâa Rose business which is built on cheap prices, which means cheap goods, has but a short race to run. The day of the weak "little slips" sold as "Rose plants" has gone, and a new era has dawned in the Rose business. Dealers who are not equipped for the changing of the ways, and who fear the leap from this class of stock into high-class goods, cannot hope to figure as a factor in the Rose-growing world.
