Dunlop, the largest Toronto grower, has an op- tion on 100 acres of land partly within and partly without the town limits, and intends to remove his greenhouse plant to the "Flower Town of the Domin- ; Mr. Dunlop has certainly been looking at land in this neighborhood, but there is no positive confirmation of anything further having transpired. The topic of the week has been the result of the appeal made by a local lawyer against the decision of the court last July when the Dale Estate won the case brought by him on account of alleged non-payment of arrears of water rates. The Dale Estate has built up the largest industry here and brought Brampton out of obscurity into the knowledge of every flower lover in the Dominion, without ever asking a single favor of the local governing bodies. Every factory that has located hero during the last decade has been given rates, taxes and water free. The Dale Estate has paid all that has ever been charged against it for water, and in- tends now to carry the case to a higher court. Beautiful weather prevails here and everything looks hopeful for a large cut at Christmas, with the exception of Beauties and Richmond. Valley has been advanced in price, owing to the higher cost of pips in Germany. Chrysanthemums are done for the season. Violets meet with a ready demand at $ per hundred. W. G. P. Jamaica, N. Y.—Florent Speiglier has purchased the greenhouses of John Gil- kinson & Sons, at Hollis. Mr. Gilkinson has removed to Millertown, N. Y., where he has purchased a farm.
