The Market. Another week of commencements and fine weather has kept the market well cleaned up. Northern florists who ex- pect May 30 to be the best day of the season may be surprised to learn that we sell no more flowers for this (?-\y than for any other, as Memorial day is not observed here. There has been no dull business, however, on this account. Carnations are in large supply and the quality is all that could be ex- pected at this season. They are fetch- ing $3 to $4 per tundred in a whole- sale way, some of the best going as high as $5. Peonies are a thing of the past. They have been good property all the season. Koses are in good sup- ply, with a good demand. Beauties, however, are scarce and of indifferent quality. We were especially pleased with some Chatenay we saw this week. This rose is certaiialy a beauty and is a good seller. , Variotui Notes. Mclntyre Bros, continue to have some good dahlias from the open ground; not in large quantities, but plenty for re- tail use, and they are moving fully as well as if they were in season. Gladioli are appearing and there will soon be plenty of field-grown stock. The Joy Floral Co., especially, is cut- ting good flowers.
