A hand-and-a-half sword, South German or Swiss, circa 1540/50. A heavy, double-edged blade. There are shallow fullers on both sides in the upper fifth of the blade with a stamped bee mark. There is an orb and a standing lion inlaid in copper on one side. Iron knucklebow hilt (slightly bent) with curved S-shaped quillons. Ring guard on the obverse side, a finger ring on the reverse side. Two knucklebows. Leather covered grip. Mushroom shaped, angular pommel.
