5000 years of human habitation, from tiny houses of Skara Brae (3100 BC) to Skaill House (1620 AD) in one photo, on Orkney Mainland, Scotland, UK.
Neolithic sites are often rebuilt many times, or even built over by succeeding peoples. The huge expanse of time at this location hit me when I was wondering around Skara Brae, and looked up to see the laird's house on the hill above the very old little stone village that was revealed by a storm in 1850 that washed away the dune covering it.
