A priming handle, 28, is fitted toeach fuel pump for charging the pipesbefore starting, and any pump can beput out of action instantaneously byraising the handle to a horizontal posit-ion. Should it become necessary for a pumpto be put out of action permanently thescrewed collar already referred to inconnection with tuning meets this re-i quirement, and when thus cut out theI suction and delivery valves and springsj can be removed for examination bysimply disconnecting the delivery pipeI and screwing out the plug in the top ofthe pump barrel. Starting and reversing are effected bymeans of compressed air and the detailsof the gear, Fig. 3 show how all theoperations of the engine are controlledby a single hand wheel. The hand wheelis mounted on a sleeve, 29, which alsocarries a lever and cam No. 1, while acentral spindle, 30, passing through thesleeve, carries cam No. 2. The lever is SCCTIOH AT FRAME 7 (LOOKING fOAnAfO!. The airvalves are directly connected with thecompressed-air reservoirs. Figs. 5 and 7on the one side and with mechanically-operated distributing valves on the otherside. The engine then starts oncompressed air, but as the fuel pumpsoperate immediately the engine starts, the air connection can be closed on thecompletion of one revoluti
