Sunny view south-east to Novotel Hotel and rondo Dmowskiego from Palace of Culture and Science Observation Deck, Warsaw, Poland

The Palace of Culture and Science (Palac Kultury i Nauki, abbreviated PKiN), including a 43 m high spire, is the tallest building in Poland and, at 231 m (758 ft), the eighth tallest building in the EU. Built 1952-1955, it was conceived as 'gift from the Soviet people to the Polish nation'. It is a mix of Stalinist architecture, Polish architectural elements and inspirations from American art deco skyscrapers. The Observation Terrace on the 30th floor, at a height of 114 m, gives excellent panoramic views of the city, here looking south-east across towards rondo Dmowskiego at the intersection of ulica Marszalkowska (Marshal's Street) and aleje Jerozolimskie (Jerusalem Abenue). The tall Novotel Hotel building dates to the 1970s.
