Small solitary diatom cells, though sporadically present in pellets (Fig. 4a, b, 6c), were never a domi- nant component. DISCUSSION Centropages velificatus is clearly an omnivore. Fecal pellets representing in situ feeding contained primarily the remains of other crustaceans and large or elongate phytoplankton taxa. These field results support previous laboratory studies with the same species (PafFenhofer and Knowles, 1980) or laboratory and field studies with.
