A reconstruction of a World War II training camp includes the typical tarpaper barracks used in that era. The tarpaper construction method was cheap and quick. Many such camps were built around the United States in the early days of the war. Few still exist. This reconstruction includes a typical "direction" sign showing the mileage to various cities around the world. The reconstructed barracks can be visited at the US Army Heritage and Education Center in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
