It is 325 ft. long, 93 ft. wide, and 202 ft. broadat the transepts. The slender campanile with its series ofarcaded windows is attributed to Jacopo Talenti in 1334. Theornate facade of black and white marbles is chiefly the workof Leon-Battista Alberti, completed at the expense of Gio-vanni Rucellai (1470), whose heraldic emblem of an antiqueship in full sail can be observed in the scheme of Albertis
