The castor-oil seed, when taken whole, are extremelyacrid, and have produced fatal results. Singularly enough, a recent traveller inPalestine relates that in the valley of Bukaa, the cold-pressed oil is cultivated andused not only for burning as an illuminator, but as an accompaniment to certainkinds of vegetables.
