The imposing Chinese border post building at Kyirong (Gyirong), Tibet, serving as the main overland crossing between Nepal and Tibet since August 2017. Behind the photographer, a military-style Bailey bridge crosses a stream to the Nepalese frontier post, housed in a simple cabin. Nearest Nepalese town is Rasuwagadhi in the Langtang region. Kathmandu is 130 km distant, an 8-9 drive on narrow, rough roads. This crossing replaces the earthquake-damaged facilities at Zhangmu (China) with Kodari (Nepal), some 80 km to the east.
