Rob Roy & Trossachs Visitor Centre in a former church at Ancaster Square in the main street of Callander near Stirling

Editorial use only. This Rob Roy centre located in Callander provides audio-visual presentation and exhibition on the history of Rob Roy. His original name was Robert MacGregor (1671-1734) born near Loch Katrine. He was originally a cattle dealer in Inversnaid on Loch Lomond but later declared an outlaw by the Duke of Montrose over the disappearance of £1,000 and then waged a guerrilla campagne against his erstwhile business partner. His exploits were romanticised largely due to Sir Walter Scott's novel Rob Roy published in 1818.
