India: Guru Nanak Dev (15 April 1469 – 22 September 1539), the first of the ten Sikh Gurus (1469-1539). Guru Nanak (1469-1539), also known as Baba Nanak, was the founder of the religion of Sikhism and the first of the ten Sikh Gurus. Sikhs believe that all subsequent Gurus possessed Guru Nanak’s divinity and religious authority. He is said to have traveled far and wide across Asia, teaching the message of 'ik onkar' ('one God'), the 'Eternal Truth'.
