A western marsh harrier (Circus aeruginosus) flying searching for prey in Gallocanta Lake, a declared Ramsar site, protecting an area of 6,720 ha as a wetland of international importance and also a declared Special Protection Area by the European Union. Gallocanta Lake is one of the most important stopover sites for migrating common cranes in Spain and the lake also holds a wide array of wetland birds while its shores are visited by steppeland birds and raptors.
