5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (Sept. 23, 2017) Hull Maintenance Technician 3rd Class Abel Arellano, from Las Vegas, reports the status of a simulated fire during a shipboard fire drill aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Howard (DDG 83). Howard is deployed in the 5th Fleet area of operations conducting maritime security operations to reassure allies and partners, preserving freedom of navigation and maintaining the free flow of commerce.
