Other flowers were in good supply and business held up well. Various Notes, The Kentucky Society of Florists held its monthly meeting at the greenhouses of Lewis Pleiss, president of the society. It was, no doubt, the largest meeting that the society ever had and an inter- esting as well as enjoyable afternoon was spent. Several members who have not been coming regularly were on hand and, as most of them had taken trips east through the summer, they gave some interesting talks on their experi- ences. Mr. Pleiss called the meeting to order at 3 p. m. and the minutes of the last meeting were read, after which the treasurer gave his report. Mr. Able then read a letter of thanks from Miss Edith V. Walker, to whom, while she was at the hospital, the society sent a basket of fruit. Mr. Able was then in- structed to write a letter of condolence to the family of the late Joseph Wettle, whose death occurred October 25. Nom- inations for officers were then in order. This took up the rest of the afternoon. H. C. Ncubrand, Tarrytown. N. Y., with Roman J. Irwin and Mr. Wilcox, of the A. L. Randall Co., Chicago, were wel- come guests at the meeting. After the meeting Mrs. Pleiss served a fine lunch, which was enjoyed by all. Following the lunch Anton Baurman, who is now with Mr. Pleiss, took the nieiiil) over the range, which is in fine condition. The Fred Ilaupt (,'o. has purchased a new Ford delivery truck. It is hard to believe that this is the first automobile delivery used I)y this firm. Before this time Mr. Ilaupt, who is a great lover of horses, had a fine liorse
