Ambierle is situated in the Loire (Rhone-Alpes region) 84 km from Saint-Etienne, the department capital. Perched on a hill overlooking the plain of Roanne, the village houses an Abbey and Priory built by Benedictine monks. The village is also famous for it's vineyards and cuisine.
