Batemans the home of Rudyard Kipling from 1902 to his death in 1936. The house is a Jacobean Wealden mansion and dates from 1634. Kipling wrote many of his famous poems, books and stories in his study here. The house is now owned by the National Trust having been given to the Trust under the terms of his widow's will in 1939.
