For this reason they are portrayed with a canopy consisting of snakes writhing around each other, as is customary for Vishnu. The portrait of the Malla monarch Bhupatendra (1695-1721) at the bottom of a scroll in the National Museum in New Delhi (See P. Pal, The Arts of Nepal Pt.
