Nong Het district, Xieng Khouang province, Laos. Yong Koua Ha, now 41, lost an eye and an arm when he was 13 in a UXO incident. He was with his mother and a neighbour in their rice field as they cleared grass with machetes. The neighbour's machete struck a UXO and was he was killed immediately. Yong, badly injured, was carried to hospital in a bamboo hammock where his arm was amputated. A bomb fragment has also blinded him in his right eye. He has found the disabilities difficult to come to terms with. He is trying to save for a prosthetic arm by raising pigs.
