Organic Headache includes painsof various nature, and is usuallylocated in the back of the head asshown by the shaded area in theaccompanying illustration. In old people, thick-ening of the arteries of the brain,softening of the brain, or apoplexy,may produce constant dull head-ache. Treatment.—The headache due to a tumor is often relievedby the operation of trephining the skull, so as to reduce thepressure in its interior. Potassium iodide and bromides are alsouseful for relief. A hot foot-bath will generally stop the pain. Tlie following has been found beneficial: ^ Iodide of Potash two teaspoonfuls Bromide of Potash four teaspoonf uls Peppermint-water six tablespoonfuls Mix. Dose: One teaspoonful in a wineglass of water, three times a day.
