Modifications being carried out to the West Coast Main Line to improve high speed running. Here at Euxton they are re-instating four track operation for a greater length. This allows stopping trains to be taken off the high speed tracks so that the express trains can maintain their high speed. This work has involved closing the section between Warrington and Preston completely from 13/07/13 until 22/07/13.
