(The Flo-wering Colens.) Entirely distinct from the varieties of Coleus heretofore known, all of which were grown for their beautifully colored and variegated foliage. This species, which comes from Central Africa, is not a foliage plant, its leaves being plain green ; but it is a really grand flowering plant, and a Winter flowering plant at that, its season of flowering being from the Christmas Holidays until late in May. The plant is of strong growth, attaming a height of 2 to 2j^ feet, and produces dense cylindrical spikes one inch in diameter and from 6 to 12 inches long, of beautiful rich blue flowers, which remind one of a spike of blue Larkspur. Blue • flowers at all seasons of the year are not plentiful and always much sought after, especially so during the winter season. We consider this plant a perfect gem and a plant that has a great future as a flowering plant for the Holidays, in which it may even rival the Lorraine Begonias.
