British Rail Class 395 'Javelin' train approaching the manually operated level crossing at Wye railway station in Kent, UK


Wye railway station was opened by the South Eastern Railway on 6 February 1846, along with the rest of the line from Ashford to Canterbury West in Kent, Southern England. Seen passing through the station is a British Rail Class 395 Javelin is a dual-voltage electric multiple unit (EMU) built by Hitachi as part of the Hitachi A-train AT300 family for high-speed commuter services on High Speed 1 and elsewhere on the Integrated Kent Franchise . In 2021 the crossing gates over Bridge street were still manually operated by a crossing keeper. Upgrading to automatic barriers was scheduled to happen in 2022
