Fort Margherita Brooke Gallery museum heritage building wall and towers Kuching Sarawak Malaysia


Kuching, Malaysia - October 13, 2018: Fort Margherita on north bank of the Sarawak River in Kuching, East Malaysia. The fort was completed in 1879 and is built in the style of an English castle. It was constructed to protect Kuching from being attacked by pirates and served as a Police Museum from 1971 before being handed over to the Sarawak state government. The fort is a tourist attraction which houses the Brooke Gallery, an exhibition showcasing the history of Sarawak under the Brooke Dynasty.
