Fractured arm surgery. Image 9 of 10. Surgeon screwing a metal plate across a fracture in a patient's humerus (arm bone). Originally, a pin was inserted to stabilise the bone and allow it to heal in the correct position after being fractured in a motorcycle accident. However, the ends of the fracture did not reunite properly, so the pin has been removed along with the ends of the fracture, which will be replaced by a bone graft from the patient's pelvis. This metal plate will act as a supportive framework for the bone graft.
