For the collapsible division, which nextmust be fitted, a strip of black twill mustbe cut 6 in. by 18 in. ; run a hem alongeither side of the longer edges, and throughthis thiead some flat elastic. Pleat the twill,and stitch it to the elastic at distancesof about i in. The elastic band must benot more than the focus of the lens, say. When the camera is requiredfor oidinary work the division is easilyremoved. Wet-plate and Ferrotype Cameras. Specially made cameras for wet-platework are now seldom seen. The old formconsisted simply of two boxes, one slidingin the other, and a somewhat primitivedark-slide, inserted through an openingor slit in the top of the camera. Any or-dinary outfit may be used by those whodesire to undertake wet-plate work, theonly exception being that a slightly differ- ent form of slide is required, having a shal-low trough at the bottom to catch the drip-pings of the plates, and silver wires to sup-port them.
