Demolition of 'Wembley Way' the iconic Wembley Stadium pedway continues. The 46 year old walkway twin ramp pedestrian walkway, which was built in 1974 to facilitate pedestrian access to the old stadium over a coach park that no longer exists and is not suitable for wheelchair users due to the gradient of the ramp. It is being demolished to make way for the Olympic Steps, which will provide better access in addition to four new lifts from ground level to the ticket office level and Wembley Stadium concourse. Demolition began on Thursday 19th November 2020 and the joining section has already been broken down, leaving only a mangle of metal and rubble. Construction of the steps which will take people from Olympic Way to the National Stadium began earlier this year and is already 25% complete.
