Peter Sinopoli, from April 4,1902 to April 1903. Rev. Aloysius Lango, the present pas-tor, from March 25, 1903. The second church was practically thesame as the first, as it was rebuilt uponwhat was saved from fire. Hence, thescarcity of room was felt as soon as the 344 HISTORY OF THE DIOCESE OF attendance increased, wliich it didthrough new immigration as also by re-newed practice of religion inspired by pre-ceding pastorates. The idea of a com-modious church therefore easily gainedthe minds of people who were anyway de-sirous of having a substantial church, such as they had left in their native coun-try. Just at this period Father Sinopolicame to the parish and lie took up at oncethe popular demand. The rest of block4, in which the parish owned but one. BARK RIVER CHURCH AND HOUSE lot, was purchased from the HoughtonMineral Land and Mining Company,June lo, , for a consideration of onethousand dollars and there commencedto rise the red-sand-stone building in styleexclusively Italian, so that one cannotmistake the character of the building northe nationality of its owners. The inte-rior, distinctly foreign, is not disappoint-ing, although the frescoing done by Fa-ther Sinopoli himself, is rude. To thechurch is attached in the rear the entire building cost little over thir- teen thousand dollars of which two-thirdsare paid. It was dedicated to the Imma-culate Conception on January i, 1903, byBishop Eis, assisted by Fathers Sinopoli,Dassylva, Kraker and Pinten. The congregation is composed of twohundred and fifty families. CRYSTAL
