WHIPPLE, Superintendent of Exchange Reading Room. MERCHANTS EXCHANGE. This magnificent striicture attracts the attention of the stranger, and is an object of pride to thecitizen. Quincy Granite alone forms the front, having six columns, each forty-five feet high, and weigh-ing together 330 tons. The building is fire-proof. The staircases are made of iron and stone; theroof of wrought iron, and covered with sheet iron. More than a million and half of bricks were used inits erection.
