Castle of Begur in the Baix Empordà region of Gerona province, Catalonia, Spain

Built in the 16th century, the castle of Begur is one of the main tourist attractions of the town and has been declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest. It is located at the top of a promontory in the heart of the town that dominates the entire area. It is the highest part and offers excellent views towards the coast. The fortress was built on top of the rock and preserves a large part, especially the main master tower that has a totally cylindrical shape and that maintains its 5 meters high because it was built at a higher point. We also find remains of walls thus maintaining the structure of a historical and imposing complex.
