Bull Fighting, Thai Style.

Watching organised fighting between two 500kg bulls has long been a traditional pastime in Thailand’s southern provinces. The animals are selected at around 3-4 years old, then after one year of training they are ready to enter the ring. The actual "fight" is more a test of strength and a battle of wills .. any injuries from the sharp horns are most superficial and all live to fight another day! Bettting of course is major sideline and interest for the crowds. The Hat Yai bullfighting arena is at Baan Neun Khun Tong which is located on the way to Hat Yai airport from town. Off the main airport road there is a turning right and the arena (stadium sounds too grand for what it actually is) is about a five minute walk on the left-hand side.
